seborrheic dermatitis

Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin disorder causing scaly, itchy, red skin on the scalp, face, sides of the nose, ears, brows, upper chest, and other oily areas in the body. This condition mainly affects the sebaceous cysts (non-cancerous bump) present beneath the skin. The sebaceous gland present in the skin releases an oily substance called sebum, which consists of fat, and dead fat-producing cells. People with SD seem to have increased production of sebum. There are infantile and adult forms of seborrheic dermatitis.
